Patchwork came out of the early 2024 spam wave.
The team behind Patchwork backed Mastodon and the Fediverse back in late 2022. Our development team have worked with Ruby on Rails for many years before that.
During the spam wave we realised we’d built some useful features in Newsmast which could be used on any Mastodon server.
Our team
The team at Patchwork has been working in the Fediverse on Mastodon for 15 months and on Ruby on Rails (the main pillar of the Mastodon tech stack) for many years.
The core team members are Michael Foster, Project Leader, Aung Kyaw Phyo, Technical Lead and Lawrence Tang, Technical Project Manager, backed by the development team at Binary Labs, and supported by the Freddie, Saskia and the Newsmast Community Team.
