By adding Patchwork patches to your server, your admin can make your experience better, starting with filtering out spam. Patchwork was conceived as one solution to the spam wave of early 2024. With our filters in place, your experience should be a whole lot better.
Patchwork also gives servers a lot more choice for their users.
On a Patchwork server you can find…
– Cool themes and flavours. There are some great new themes out there, which you can adopt for your server. As a start we’re offering Mastodon Bird UI and Tangerine UI – with many more to follow.
– Extra filters. Add custom filters to suit your server. Like NSFW, for non-explicit servers.
– Local posts only. Say something just to the audience on your server.
– Long posts. 500 characters isn’t much. Press a + and create a long post – 4,000, 10,000 characters of more – as set by the server.
– Local quote posts. These are in development by the Mastodon team, and lots of clients have a workaround. Meantime your server users can quote post to each other. Which means a lot of the concerns can be dealt with by local moderation.
Get a Patchwork app
Patchwork runs perfectly with the basic Patchwork version of the Mastodon Web UI.
There are also some cool mobile and web apps you can try:
– patchwork.app – a lightweight app showing just your home Patchwork server, built on the highly acclaimed web app from Phanpy.
– Patchwork Community mobile app for iOS or Android. This has all the Patchwork features enabled. Plus it combines your home account with a bunch of engaging extra timelines from Newsmast.
– Patchwork Community Desktop/PWA. Like the mobile apps, this has all the Patchwork features enabled, plus extra timelines from Newsmast.
